Meet Tom Duffy, a
Computer Science Professor and founder of Wide Load Music who embarked on a musical
journey during the COVID-19 lockdown. At the age of 58, he picked up
the bass guitar and began a self-taught exploration of the instrument,
which soon led to mastering multiple other instruments, including guitar,
keyboard, and harmonica. With a newfound passion for music, he released
his debut album, Falling Forward, in October, 2023. Falling Forward
is a testament to the power of determination and the joy of lifelong learning.
The album's first single, It Ain't Me, serves as an introduction to his unique sound. As a multi-instrumentalist, Tom brings a fresh perspective to each track, blending influences from across the musical spectrum. With Unintended Consequences, the album's second single, the musical journey is far from over.
Tom has since released Radiant (December, 2023) and The Last Days (January, 2024). Radiant is a giant leap forward in terms of songwriting, execution, and production. It includes multiple singles: Gimme Gimme, The Last Days (Seeking Solace) Pt. 1, Radiant, and Guided By Voices. The Last Days serves as a collection of the spoken word songs on Radiant and tells the story of a troubled man who takes in an abandoned girl. Together they make their way through life forging a movement of kindness.
Tom is a founding member of The Tom Duffy Band. TDB is a collection of friends playing a mix of classic rock and pop along with original music in local venues across southwestern Connecticut.
